The month of Magha is considered as an auspicious and significant month for performing donations and related activities. On this day, people usually observe a fast, take a holy bath and worship and offer prayers to Lord Vishnu. Magha Purnima is celebrated across the country, but is known with different names such as ‘Maha Maghi’ and ‘Maghi Purnima’.

Significance of Magha Purnima
Bathing in a holy river on the day of Magha Purnima is considered highly auspicious. It is also believed that doing charities and donating things and money on this day, one gets relieved from all sins. Lord Vishnu and Lord Hanuman both are worshipped on this day. It is also said that all desires of the devotees are fulfilled on this day.

Rituals to be performed Magha Purnima Vrat Vidhi
On this day, people have to wake up early to take a holy dip in the rivers considered sacred. Then they are to observe a fast, the Magha Purnima Vrat. Vishnu Puja is to be done after this. People do the puja either in temples or in their homes. Devotees are to recite Satyanarayan Katha wholeheartedly. It is firmly believed that chanting the Gayatri Mantra and/or Om Namo Narayana mantra 108 times in a row pleases the God best. The individuals then donate clothes and offer food to the needy.
