Kharmas 2024: Kharmas is starting today, on March 14, 2024. This is the first Kharmas of the year 2024. It is believed that Kharmas period is not considered auspicious for performing any auspicious activities such as marriages, engagements, Mundan, house warming and opening new business venture etc. People are advised to avoid planning these activities.

During this period, the Sun will move to Uttarabhadrapada on March 17 and in Revati Nakshatra on March 31, 2024. So, the first Kharmas 2024 will end when the Sun will come out of Pisces and Aries, which will happen on 13th April.

Kharmas 2024: Significance

Kharmas is considered to be the inauspicious time when no auspicious things can be done. Organizing marriages, engagements, starting new business, and mundan. All the auspicious activities will be stopped during this period of one month. But people should keep this in mind that they can perform puja rituals during this period such as performing hawan or yajna, chanting mantra, conducting any puja and visiting to holy places. Performing puja during this period brings good luck, good health, and wealth. Most of the people worship Lord Vishnu for good fortune.

The festival of colours, Holi and Chaitra Navratri will also occur during the period of Kharmas. So, as we mentioned everything above that what should be done and what not and following that people can perform the religious activities like praying, worshiping, and Havan but anything auspicious should be avoided during this period.

Do's and Don'ts during Kharmas

1. Take a holy bath in Ganga river.
2. Offer Arghya to Lord Surya daily.
3. Worshipping Lord Guru on every Thursday.

4. Chanting different Mantras during this period.
5. Recite Vishnu Sahasranama and Aditya Hridya Stotram.
6. Visit holy places to seek blessings of the Lord and Goddess.
7. Perform hawan and yajna
8. Distribute food and clothes to brahmins.
9. Doing charity and donation is considered highly meritorious.

10. Eating one meal a day is also necessary to purify body, mind and soul.
