Kalashtami 2024: Significance

Kalastami day is dedicated to Kaal Bhairav. On this auspicious day, devotees observe fast with immense devotion and worship Lord Kaal Bhairav. Kaal Bhairav is a fierce manifestation of Lord Shiva and people seek blessings of the Lord.

Kalashtami is considered auspicious when it is observed on Sunday as Sunday is dedicated to Kaal Bhairav. It is believed that Lord Kaal Bhairav is the controller of these bad elements - Kaam (Lust) Krodh (Anger) Lobh (Greed) Moh(Attachment) and Ahankaar (Ego), so the people who regularly observer this fast, get rid of these elements.

Devotees worship Lord Bhairava with devotion and perform various rituals to seek his blessings for protection, prosperity, and liberation from obstacles and negativities.

Kalashtami is believed to be an auspicious day to remove enemies, negative influences, and past karma. Lord Kaal Bhairav also give protection to his devotees from from untimely death.

Kalashtami March 2024: Puja Vidhi

1. Wake up early in the morning and take a holy bath.
2. Clean the house and puja room where you want to worship Lord Kaal Bhairav.
3. Place an idol or picture of Kaal Bhairav and light a diya with mustard oil and offer garland.
4. Offer special sweets - meetha rott.
5. Devotees also visit Bhairav Temple and offer liquor and milk to Lord Kaal Bhairav and Batuk Bhairav.
6. Offer prayers to Kaal Bhairav in the evening also and recite various mantras and Kaal Bhairav Ashtakam to remove all the sufferings.
7. Fast observers can break their fast in the evening and have sattvik food.
