PM Modi to inaugurate terminal

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the new terminal at Patna's Jayprakash Narayan International Airport on May 29. He will also lay the foundation stone for the upcoming Bihta airport terminal.

The new terminal has been built at a cost of ₹1,200 crore. It aims to significantly expand passenger capacity and modernize airport operations in Bihar's capital.

Boost in passenger capacity

The terminal spans 65,155 sq. m and can accommodate 4,500 passengers during peak hours. This will raise the airport's annual capacity from 25 lakh to one crore passengers.

Passenger-friendly design

The two-storey building separates arrivals and departures across floors and includes 54 check-in counters, five boarding bridges, and eight in-line security scanners for efficient transit.

Cultural aesthetics and design

The terminal showcases Madhubani art, murals of Buddhist heritage, and imagery from local festivals like Chhath. Its architecture draws inspiration from Nalanda University ruins.

Seamless parking & access

New infrastructure includes a G+5 multilevel car park with a commercial floor, ATC tower, cargo complex, and VIP lounges. The parking can hold up to 750 vehicles.
