LONDON: Sports psychologist Vaibhav Agashe, who was with shooter Gagan Narang just prior to his bronze-winning feat at the London Olympics, says the presence of a mental trainer helps an athlete in overcoming the intense pressure and win the mind game.
"Sports psychology prepares you for the finals and handle the intense pressure through mental training," Agashe said.

According to Agashe, Narang has it in him to overcome the excitement of winning the bronze medal and take another shot at glory when he competes in the other two events at the Royal Artillery Barracks.
Narang spent about 45 minutes with Agashe before taking his final 10 shots that got him the medal in the 10m air rifle event on Monday.
Agashe has been associated with Narang since the 2006 Commonwealth Games.
Post March this year, the Sports Authority of India (SAI) and the National Rifle Association of India (NRAI) engaged him Agashe to accompany Narang throughout.
A former CBI officer, Agashe's passion is sports psychology.
