This wearable subwoofer lets you feel the music, literally
NEW DELHI: Constant innovation has always been vital for tech companies to grow and survive and in today’s cut throat competition, it’s even more so. Ideas keep surfacing everyday but only a few make it to the top. Lofelt, a Berlin based company is working on a product that would make music lovers happy. It has started a Kickstarter project to back Basslet, a wearable subwoofer.
Basslet looks like a smartwatch but also includes a low-frequency (10-250Hz) subwoofer. It comes along with a ‘Sender’ that connects the headphones to the device from which the audio is being played. The ‘Sender’ recognises low frequency audio signals and communicates with the wearable, which in-turn delivers haptic feedback to the wrist.
“Using a whole new technology for sound, it delivers the beats and basslines of your music directly to you – so you can literally feel the music. The result is a powerful sound experience that headphones alone cannot provide,” says the company’s kickstarter page.
Users would also be able to adjust the intensity of the bass. In addition, Basslet is said to come with its own in-built battery, rated to deliver up to 6+ hours of life and can be charged in less than an hour. There is no extra app or settings needed to connect the headphones with Basslet.
Basslet’s Kickstarter campaign was started on June 21 and has already surpassed the required funding goal. The company will be shipping the first lot of Basslet to initial backers starting December this year.
On a related note, Blocks Wearables started taking pre-orders for its modular smartwatch, which too was introduced as a Kickstarter project last year. The Blocks modular smartwatch can be ordered for $330 and comes in three colours - Onyx black, Sunrise red, and Marble white.
