Got road trips on your mind? These upcoming expressways will redefine travel in 2025

If you're a road trip enthusiast or someone who loves to explore new destinations, 2025 will be a year of exploration. Why, you ask? This is because India's upcoming expressways look very promising, as they will be redefining travel with faster routes, breathtaking scenery, and a seamless driving experience. From the bustling streets of Delhi to the serene backwaters near Chennai, these state-of-the-art highways are opening new horizons for travelers. Hold on tight, because 2025 promises to be a year filled with amazing adventures!
Taking a closer look at some of the upcoming expressways that will transform road travel in 2025.

2/5

Delhi-Dehradun Expressway

Considering a short getaway to the hills? Your lifeline will be the Delhi-Dehradun Expressway, which is scheduled to open in January 2025 and would reduce the present 6.5-hour travel time from Delhi to Dehradun to just 2.5 hours. Additionally, it is positioned to become a popular destination for weekend trips to Haridwar, Rishikesh, or Dehradun thanks to features including an 18-kilometer elevated corridor and picturesque pathways.

3/5

Bengaluru-Chennai Expressway

Another significant development in India's transportation system is the Bengaluru-Chennai Expressway. This 260-kilometer freeway will cut the present travel time in half by connecting the two major cities in only three hours. A 71-kilometer section is currently free to use, suggesting the convenience and effectiveness it provides. This expressway, which is expected to be finished in August 2025, will be a favorite among tourists and business visitors who want to see the rich culture of South India.

4/5

Delhi-Mumbai Expressway

The Delhi-Mumbai Expressway is the jewel in the crown of India's infrastructural development, spanning an amazing 1,386 km. When it's operational, the 24-hour drive between Delhi and Mumbai will only take 12 hours, a massive 50% reduction in travel time. This highway will be passing via numerous states like Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Rajasthan, Gujarat, and Maharashtra, which will prove to be a vital economic link in the coming years. The possibility of saving 180 km while travelling peacefully, is something that every road tripper will be motivated to hit the road and plan trips more often than ever.

5/5

Kanpur-Lucknow Expressway

The Kanpur-Lucknow Expressway, also called the Awadh Expressway, is set to transform intra-state travel in Uttar Pradesh. This 63-km stretch, equipped with eight lanes and advanced infrastructure, will slash travel time between Kanpur and Lucknow from three hours to just 35-45 minutes. Whether it's a quick work trip or a leisurely escape, this expressway will ensure speed and comfort.
