UK updates travel advisory after deadly explosion near Delhi’s Red Fort
The United Kingdom has issued a travel advisory warning its citizens against travel to parts of India following a deadly explosion near Delhi’s historic Red Fort. The UK’s Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) updated its travel guidance, advising people in the area to “follow the advice of local authorities and monitor local media.” The official statement read as, “There has been an explosion at the Red Fort (Lal Qila) Metro Station, New Delhi. If you’re in the immediate area, follow the advice of the local authorities and monitor local media.” The advisory comes as Indian security forces step up vigilance in the capital and other sensitive regions following the incident. It also says, “Your travel insurance could be invalidated if you travel against advice from the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO).” For more clarification and clarity, visit this official page.
The blast occurred on Monday evening inside a moving car outside Gate No. 1 of the Red Fort Metro Station, killing several people and injuring several others.

Newsonair reported, Prime Minister Narendra Modi condemned the tragic incident in Delhi, vowing that those behind the attack “will not be spared” and that every individual involved will be brought to justice. Speaking at an event in Thimphu, Bhutan, Mr. Modi said he had been in constant touch with investigating agencies throughout the night as they examined the details of the explosion.
He assured that the authorities would uncover the full extent of the conspiracy, emphasizing that no effort would be left incomplete. Expressing grief, the Prime Minister said he arrived in Bhutan with a heavy heart, as the incident in Delhi had deeply shaken everyone. He added that he shares the sorrow of the affected families and that the entire nation stands in solidarity with them during this difficult time.

Meanwhile, Home Minister Amit Shah said that multiple investigating teams are probing “all possible angles” and that no possibility has been ruled out at this stage.
In addition to its warning about New Delhi, the FCDO reiterated its long-standing advisory against travel with regard to other places, as borders still remain in place. The UK Government also continues to advise against all travel to other popular tourist destinations.
Regarding Manipur, the FCDO maintained its caution against all but essential travel due to ongoing unrest and curfews following ethnic clashes that erupted in 2023. Security has been tightened across multiple states, as the central government reviews the national security situation in the wake of the explosion.
As regarding travel insurance, it says that all those choosing to travel, need to research their destinations, and get the necessary appropriate travel insurance. Insurance should cover their itinerary, planned activities and expenses in an emergency.
