Delhi IGI airport sees flight operations disrupted, multiple cancellations due to fog; travellers urged to check status
Delhi woke up to severe fog conditions today. Several flights were cancelled and delayed in the morning, thereby causing much travel disruption. Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport reported many flight disruptions this morning due to dense fog that significantly reduced visibility. Adding more to the trouble, several departures were also reportedly delayed as airlines had to adjust schedules to ensure safe operations amid the challenging weather conditions.
Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL) meanwhile issued a passenger notice stating that dense fog may affect flight operations. The airport operator recommended travelers to stay updated with their flight schedules, and contact your respective airlines for the most recent information. It also assured that it is closely collaborating with all stakeholders to minimise inconvenience. As per its latest advisory that it posted on X, it added, "Runway visibility has improved and operations are stabilising, however there might be some impact on flight. Our on-ground staff is available at various passenger movement areas across terminals to assist passengers. with your airlines for the latest updates."
Airline advisories
In response to the low visibility, IndiGo Airlines also issued a travel advisory cautioning that dense fog could impact flight schedules. It took to X, and posted:
"Travel Advisory...Low visibility and fog over Delhi will impact flight schedules. We're keeping a close watch on the weather and doing our best to get you where you need to be, safely and smoothly."
Further, numerous IndiGo flights were canceled today, which disrupted various important domestic routes. According to their official website, the following flights were cancelled. Check their official site, to find if your flight is on the list:
Delhi – Varanasi: 6E 2235, 6E 2658, 6E 6649
Delhi – Hyderabad: 6E 962, 6E 963
Delhi – Bengaluru: 6E 6188, 6E 6725
Delhi – Patna: 6E 5008, 6E 2309, 6E 2425, 6E 5007
Delhi – Chennai: 6E 2762, 6E 6724
Other affected routes: Jaipur, Jodhpur, Indore, Guwahati, Kolkata, Ahmedabad, Lucknow, Amritsar, Silchar, Dibrugarh, and more.

Air India also issued a travel advisory urging passengers to stay updated on their flight status through the airline’s official website. In a post on X, Air India said:
"Travel Advisory...Poor visibility due to dense fog is impacting flight operations in Delhi and parts of Northern India. Please check your flight status at: https://www.airindia.com/in/en/manage/flight-status.html before heading to the airport."
Both airlines assured complete support from ground and customer care personnel during the disruption and urged passengers to keep an eye on updates via their websites or mobile applications.

Temperatures ranged from a minimum of 8°C to a maximum of 23°C.
