10 world’s most corrupt countries revealed

One of the major issues that have been a challenge in terms of governance, economic stability, and public trust is corruption. Corruption is one of the major issues that have had a negative impact on the stability of democracy, economies, and the opportunities that citizens have in many countries around the world. In order to monitor corruption in countries across the globe, the anti-corruption watchdog Transparency International publishes a widely used corruption perception index every year. This index ranks 182 countries and territories based on their perceived levels of public sector corruption. It includes data ranging from 0 (highly corrupt) to 100 (very clean) based on information gathered from various independent sources. The latest Corruption Perceptions Index for the year 2025, released in early 2026, is a pointer that weak institutions and crises are an environment in which corruption flourishes. Here are the 10 countries that ranked as the most corrupt in the world in the latest corruption perception index.

2/11

South Sudan

At the bottom of the ranking is South Sudan, the youngest nation in the world. The nation has struggled with civil wars since gaining independence in 2011. The nation has struggled with political instability and weak governance. Corruption has therefore remained deeply entrenched in the nation’s political and administrative systems despite the government’s efforts to combat the vice with the help of the international community.

3/11

Somalia

Somalia also shares the same ranking as South Sudan in the index. The nation has struggled with political instability for decades. Although the nation has started to make some strides in rebuilding its political and financial management systems, corruption remains a major concern for the nation. The nation has struggled with weak governance and limited capacity, as well as security issues, to create a more transparent political environment.

4/11

Venezuela

This country used to be among the wealthiest in Latin American countries due to the richness of its oil resources. The country has been undergoing a political and economic crisis for the last ten years. Corruption scandals involving government institutions and industries have been the main news in the country. The country still ranks among the lowest in the corruption index due to weak checks and balances, loss of independence of institutions, and the economic crisis.

5/11

Yemen

This country has been undergoing a severe conflict for a long period. The conflict has weakened the government structures of the country. The humanitarian crisis in the country has created an environment where corruption is likely to thrive without any checks. The weak government structures have made the fight against corruption an enormous task.

6/11

Libya

Political fragmentation and competing administrations have shaped the governance landscape in Libya since the fall of the previous regime in 2011. Rival power centres and instability have weakened institutional control.

7/11

Eritrea

Eritrea's highly centralized political system has been a major cause for concern over the years, with the risk of corruption perceived to remain high due to the lack of checks and balances. The political system in Eritrea, as well as the limited civil liberties and press freedom, are perceived to have contributed to the high corruption risk in the country.

8/11

Sudan

Sudan's political and economic challenges have had a major effect on the fight against corruption in the country. The political changes have presented opportunities for reform in the recent past, but the challenges have hindered the development of a regulatory environment that is transparent.

9/11

Nicaragua

Concerns over the democratic backslide have led to Nicaragua ranking as the lowest in the index. The political system in Nicaragua has been cited as a major cause of corruption risk, with the checks and balances lacking.

10/11

Syria

Over a decade of conflict has crippled Syria, and governing the country is extremely difficult. A decade of conflict means that conditions are ripe for corruption and economic crimes. Therefore, governing in a transparent manner is a big challenge for Syria.

11/11

North Korea

North Korea’s political system is opaque, and little is known about how the government operates. There are concerns about corruption in North Korea. Due to limited access to data, it is difficult to assess the level of corruption. However, based on global indices, it can be said that North Korea ranks among the topmost corrupt countries.

Being "chanda party" you have not mentioned the name of a country, where "Government has no Data of Corruption in Education system, Public Delivery system, Infrastructure system, Public Transport system, Women and Child Health Care system. And most Corrupt systems are Railway, Aviation, Water Transport, Public Health, Gas and Fuel. That country has no inspection and vigilance on Drug, Medicine, Food, Health, Railway and Toll duty.
