Top 6 national parks to go when you’re tired of humans

We’ve all been there at some point or other. It’s when the routine gets so tiring that you want to get away from the mundane, and are ready to socially distance yourself from everything around. But, we’ve got some of the best leafy escapes for you. These aren’t those benches-and-joggers parks—but places where birds outnumber humans and rhinos are your spirit animals. So, for all those times, here are some of the best picks that will help you to disappear into when you’re just done with people.

2/7

Silent Valley National Park, Kerala

Located in the Nilgiri Hills, this place s is so quiet that it seems it’s practically on airplane mode. With zero traffic, no honking, and definitely no people yelling into their phones, Silent Valley lives up to its name. Trek past mossy trees, hear actual silence, and if you’re lucky, spot a lion-tailed macaque.

3/7

Valley of Flowers, Uttarakhand

This UNESCO World Heritage site is open only a few months a year, which is perfect because people can’t overcrowd it. Trek your way into an explosion of alpine flowers, and pretend you’re in a fairy tale.

4/7

Hemis National Park, Ladakh

Don’t worry about human interaction here—at 4,000 m above sea level, even WiFi gives up. Hemis is the best place in India to (possibly) spot the elusive snow leopard. The real game, though, is to spend three days not speaking to a soul and getting spiritual with the mountains.

5/7

Keoladeo National Park, Rajasthan

Birds are the best things here. This wetland reserve in Bharatpur has more than 370 species of birds, and most visitors are more into binoculars than selfies. Rent a cycle, glide past egrets and spoonbills, and enjoy the rare sensation of not being photographed or tagged.

6/7

Namdapha National Park, Arunachal Pradesh

This is where you go when “off-grid” just isn’t off enough. Bordering Myanmar, Namdapha is so wild you’ll need a permit and a guide. Also, the towering forests and sheer remoteness make it perfect to get away from the humans and be with nature for once.

7/7

Jaldapara National Park, West Bengal

Home to the one-horned rhinoceros, Jaldapara offers quiet forest safaris where you can pretend you're in the wild all alone. It's chill, green, and the rhinos don't ask what you're doing with your life.
So, if you’re on the brink of throwing your phone into a lake or ghosting your entire social circle, nature has your back. These parks aren’t just green escapes—they’re places that will help you to become anti-social for a change for some time. Pack your bag, leave your notifications behind, and go hang out with something that chirps, howls, or growls. Just not humans.
