Topping the list is India with the largest tiger population. It has a population of 3,167 tigers and is mainly found in 58 protected tiger reserves spread across 20 states under Project Tiger. The Corbett Reserve has a major population of 260 tigers and Rajaji Reserve in Uttarakhand also holds a great number. Tigers are also found in Kanha–Bandhavgarh, Sundarbans, Sahyadri–Western Ghats, Central India, and Manas National Park, which faced almost extinction of tigers but now has revived its population.

Russia has the second-largest population of tigers. This is the only place where one can find the Siberian Tiger subspecies, genetically one of the rarest, and the population of tigers here is 750 tigers. This species is mainly found in the rugged forests with severe winters like the Sikhote‑Alin range and the greater Amur‑Heilong ecosystem (bordering Northeast China).

Indonesia has the third-largest population of tigers and is endemic to Sumatra tigers, but they are critically endangered and mostly seen in fragmented rainforests. The population of this species is 400 tigers and is mainly found in habitats like Gunung Leuser, Kerinci‑Seblat, Bukit Barisan Selatan National Parks, and a few isolated forest blocks.

This location holds the fourth-largest tiger population and became the first tiger range to double its numbers by 2022. The current tiger population here is 355, with most individuals found in the Chitwan–Bardiya–Parsa Tiger Landscape.

Thailand has the fifth-highest population of tigers and has greatly recovered the Indochinese tiger species after the low in the 1970s. The population of tigers here is 189 Indochinese tigers. Mainly, this species is found in the Western Forest Complex in Hua Kha Khaeng, Mae Wong, Khao Yai–Dong Phayayen.

The sixth-highest population of tigers is in Bhutan. This location has seen a rise in Bengal tigers and the population here is around 151 tigers. Tigers in Bhutan roam up to 4,400 m in forest reserves like Royal Manas, Jigme Dorji, and adjacent corridors, making their range among the highest on Earth.

This land has the seventh-highest population of tigers and they are also critically endangered. The population of tigers here stands at 150 tigers and they are found in Malaysia’s Taman Negara, Belum-Temengor, and scattered fringe forests.

Bangladesh has the eighth-highest population. The tiger population here is at 146 now and is mainly found in the Sundarbans, the world’s largest mangrove forest, and also in the forest ranges of Khulna, Satkhira, Bagerhat, and Sharankhola.

This place has the ninth-highest population of tigers with the population of 22 tigers. You can find tigers here in Hukaung Valley, Htamanthi Wildlife Sanctuary, and the Tenasserim‑South Myanmar corridor.

China has a population of 20 tigers and they live in the habitat of the Northeast China Tiger and Leopard National Park across Jilin and Heilongjiang provinces in the northeast region of China amid dense forests.
