You read that right! Quite soon, travellers will be able to reach Gujarat’s Vadodara from Gurugram in just 10 hours, thanks to the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway. Usually it takes around 20-22 hours to cover a distance of about 950 km between these cities. But now the time is set to be slashed dramatically to just 10 hours which is being considered a major shift in road travel.
This will be a significant milestone in the project which is a crucial tunnel near Kota that will play an important role in enhancing the connectivity between the cities.
Stretching across a staggering 1,380 km, the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway is India’s longest expressway and is designed for high-speed travel, allowing vehicles to move at speeds of up to 120 kmph. This ambitious project comes with an investment of INR 95,000 crore and is set to transform not only travel but also trade, tourism, and economic growth across the states it traverses—including Delhi, Haryana, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, and Maharashtra.
Beyond speed, the expressway is also a showcase of modern, sustainable development. According to the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), the construction incorporates eco-friendly technologies and green infrastructure.
Special attention has been paid to wildlife conservation, particularly near sensitive zones like the Mukundra Hills Tiger Reserve in Rajasthan. The expressway features dedicated animal corridors, tunnels, and noise barriers to ensure minimal disturbance to the surrounding environment and wildlife.

The entire project is expected to be fully operational by October 2025.
