5 hill getaways near Hyderabad under 200 km for that quick mini break

Hyderabad is a city that has two prominent moods, which is the IT hustle on weekdays and biryani hunts on weekends. But when the traffic, heat, and humidity come together to bother, nothing beats a quick escape to the hills. Luckily, there is no need to wait to plan a long, complicated trip. Within 200 km of the city, there are some beautiful hill getaways that make for perfect weekend getaways, offering cool breezes, lush greenery, allowing one to take a complete break from city chaos. They may not be "hill stations" in the classic sense, but have got all the elements to offer that hilly vibe. So, here are some places that will offer a quick hill to anybody craving for hill station break.

2/6

Ananthagiri Hills

Situated around 79 km from the city, it will take barely a two-hour drive to reach Ananthagiri Hills in Vikarabad. It’s one of the go-to weekend retreats for nature lovers. There are coffee plantations, thick forests, and trekking trails, which come alive in the monsoon. The Anantha Padmanabha Swamy Temple tucked amid the greenery adds a spiritual vibe to this scenic spot. It’s the closest one can get to a “hill station” feel without leaving Telangana.

3/6

Nallamala Hills

Part of the Eastern Ghats, Nallamala Hills are a refreshing mix of rocky terrain and dense forests. It'll take around 5 hours to reach this place, as it’s slightly above the 200 km mark. The region forms the backdrop for the Nagarjunasagar-Srisailam Tiger Reserve, so don’t be surprised if you spot wildlife along the way. Plus, there are viewpoints, jungle treks, and the cool breeze at higher altitudes to keep visitors hooked, and get a weekend trip that feels much farther than it really is.

4/6

Bhongir (Bhuvanagiri) Fort Hill

At first glance, Bhongir Fort looks like a giant stone dropped in the middle of the plains. Climb up the massive monolithic hill, and you’re rewarded with sweeping views of the countryside. Built in the 10th century, the fort has secret chambers and tunnels that add a touch of mystery. It’s a quick getaway for those who want a dash of adventure with their history lesson.

5/6

Koilkonda Fort Hills

Situated around 128 km away from the city, it’s tucked away in Mahbubnagar district. Koilkonda Fort sits atop a hill that demands a short trek. The reward? Panoramic views of rolling fields, scattered villages, and the fort itself, a reminder of the Qutub Shahi era. Unlike Bhongir, this one is still under the tourist radar, which means you can enjoy the peace and quiet without weekend crowds.

6/6

Mallela Theertham Waterfall

Hidden in the Nallamala forest, Mallela Theertham is where nature does its best work. The waterfall tumbles down a rocky cliff, surrounded by thick greenery and the sound of birdsong. You’ll have to descend about 350 steps to reach it, but once you do, the mist and cool breeze are worth every step. Go during or just after the monsoon for the most spectacular views.
