Serolsar Lake

Serolsar Lake in the Tirthan Valley of Himachal Pradesh is some 75 km away from Kullu. It is a small, circular lake that is crystal clear and calmly rippling, reflecting the blue sky and greenery around it. For thrill-seeking enthusiasts, this is the perfect lake to visit, as you have to trek from Jalori Pass, the highest point that connects Kullu Valley and Shimla Valley. This lake also has religious significance; it is considered that a goddess resides in it who protects the lake.

Sopona Lake

Sopona Lake is located above the remote twin villages of Mane and Maneyogma and is a seasonal lake that lies on the border between the Spiti, Lahaul, and Kinnaur districts. It is a secluded lake that offers serene landscapes around it, as it is located in the Spiti Valley. The best time to visit this lake is during summer, as it gets filled with glacier meltwater, but you might miss it if you visit in late summer, as the lake dries up.

Prashar Lake

This freshwater lake is situated in the Mandi district of Himachal Pradesh. The lake is blue in colour, surrounded by tall Dhauladhar trees, a beautifully sculptured temple, and snow-covered mountains. On the banks of the lake, you will find a pagoda temple, making the lake a religious attraction as well; the temple is dedicated to the sage Parashara, which is why the lake is named after him. It is believed that ancient saints used to meditate here for a long period of time.

Surajtal Lake

Surajtal Lake, also known as Surya Taal, is nestled in the magnificent mountains of the Lahaul and Spiti Valley. It is considered the third-highest lake in India and 21st-highest in the world. The surrounding regions are mostly uninhabited due to the harsh climate, making it a loved spot for people seeking some alone time amidst nature. The lake is considered sacred by Hindus, as the Sun God, Surya, bathed in the water during his journey to the sky to purify himself and his blessings still reside in the lake’s waters.
