Kanha National Park

This national park is located in the Mandla and Balaghat districts of Madhya Pradesh. This is also one of the largest national parks in the country. This national park features dense sal and bamboo forests, open meadows, and clear streams that add to the beauty of the forest. This park is also a biodiversity hotspot with a wide variety of flora and fauna. One can spot animals such as chital, sambar, barasingha, gaur, Bengal tiger, Indian leopard, dhole, sloth bear, and Indian jackal. This national park also hosts around 300 species of birds and is also a major tiger reserve. The best time to visit this park is between October to June.

Sundarbans Mangrove Forest

The largest mangrove forest in the world is located in West Bengal in the Ganges Delta, where the confluence of the Ganges, Brahmaputra, and Meghna rivers forms on the Bay of Bengal. Some parts of the Sundarbans forest have also been listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The dominant tree species found here are sundri (Heritiera fomes) and gewa (Excoecaria agallocha). This area also supports a rich biodiversity with 453 fauna species, which includes 290 bird, 120 fish, and other species. This area is also a critical habitat for the Bengal tiger and other threatened species. This mangrove forest is a treasure with rich biodiversity and natural disaster resilience, making it one of the most beautiful forests in India.

Jim Corbett National Park

Located in the Nainital district of Uttarakhand, this is India’s first national park and is also a quite famous wildlife reserve. This national park is located in the foothills of the Himalayas and has diverse terrain which includes hills, grasslands, and lakes which also support great flora and fauna. It has a dense moist deciduous forest which consists of the sal tree, peepal, and mango trees and hosts 617 different species of plants and fauna. One can spot wildlife such as Bengal tigers, Asian elephants, leopards, sloth bears, and many other mammal species.

Namdapha National Park

The fourth largest national park in India, located in Arunachal Pradesh of Northeast India. Mainly known for its great biodiversity and pristine tropical rainforests. This park hosts about 1,000 floral and 1,400 fauna species. Namdapha is famously the only protected area in the world where all four big cats of India — the tiger, leopard, snow leopard, and clouded leopard — coexist. Other animals found here include Asiatic black bears, Malayan sun bears, dhole (wild dogs), and more. The park is a botanical treasure trove and a haven for wildlife conservation in Northeast India and has also been designated as an eco-sensitive zone.

Gir Forest National Park

This park is located in the Junagadh district of Gujarat in India, which consists of dry deciduous forest, grassland, and rocky hills. This park was first established as a wildlife sanctuary and later declared as a national park and a biosphere reserve as well. Visitors will find a wide variety of fauna here such as Asiatic lion, Indian leopard, jungle cat, striped hyena, golden jackal, and a lot of bird species. This place also holds great cultural importance among local communities. This park provides a great habitat for the conservation of Asiatic lions and has also seen a rise in the population of lions here.
