Samman Roy’s feature film to screen at the 54th International Film Festival of India in Goa

The 54th edition of IFFI is going to feature 10 films and Kolkata boy Samman Roy’s second feature film The Exile- Nirbashan has made it to the list.
The horror film is set in rural Bengal of the 60’s and the film explores local culture, mental condition and the social conditions of women in those areas. It incorporates elements of supernatural beliefs to evoke a sense of fear in the backdrop. The village scenarios are used to capture the essence of fear intertwined with the desires of the human mind, which was not accepted in the 1960’s.
The film was shot in two villages in the Rayna region of Bardhaman and features Arghya Ray, Arpita Dey and Soumya Majumder. The official release date in the city is yet to be confirmed.
