It’s a great time for Gujarat’s TT players: Harmeet Desai

Surat’s TT champ Harmeet Desai, who recently beat Manav Thakkar to emerge as the national champion, is happy with the way Gujarat’s TT players have been performing. He shares, “It is a great feeling because in the past, we have seen players from states like Tamil Nadu facing each other in the final. But at the senior level, this is the first time that two players from Gujarat reached the final, which was unthinkable a few years back.Be it Manav, Manush Shah or Ishaan Hingorani, we have some very promising young players now and they have been doing India proud. Manav is the world number one at the under-21 level, which is a huge achievement. The way Manav approaches his game and handles pressure is praiseworthy and while he will face tougher competition at the senior level now, I believe that he will do wonders at the international level. His dedication to the sport is exemplary.”
