In the early years of India’s beauty and wellness industry, when synthetic products dominated salon shelves, Blossom Kochhar quietly introduced aromatherapy to Indian consumers, blending essential oils, plant extracts, and holistic wellness into a business philosophy that later became mainstream
Today, the founder and chairperson of the Blossom Kochhar Group is among the jury members for the
Times Internet Ecopreneur Awards 2026, an initiative recognising entrepreneurs and businesses building environmentally conscious solutions across industries. Her presence on the jury feels fitting. For decades, Kochhar has advocated a return to nature-led beauty and wellness, long before sustainability became central to consumer culture.
But her story is not only about beauty. It is also about sustainability, education, and building an ecosystem that grew alongside India’s changing relationship with wellness. The beginnings were modest. In a 2025 interview with The Times of India, Kochhar reflected on the early days of her entrepreneurial journey, “What began as a passion slowly became a purpose,” she said in the interview, speaking about her belief in healing through nature and essential oils.
That belief eventually evolved into Aroma Magic, the flagship brand of the Blossom Kochhar Group. Founded in the early 1990s with her late husband Col. V. Kochhar, the company positioned itself around aromatherapy-based skincare and wellness products at a time when the category barely existed in India. Over time, her work expanded beyond products. She founded the Blossom Kochhar College of Creative Arts and Design (BKCCAD), which introduced structured training in beauty, hair, spa, and wellness education.
Times Internet Ecopreneur Awards 2026
The Ecopreneur Awards 2026 is about to cheering on the founders and companies completely redefining what business success actually looks like. Instead of focusing solely on profit margins, this platform hunts for visionaries who prove that you can protect the planet while still scaling a highly profitable operation. In many ways, the platform reflects a larger shift taking place across India’s entrepreneurial ecosystem, where sustainability is no longer viewed as a niche concern but as a long-term business imperative.
From startups experimenting with clean technologies to established firms redesigning operations with environmental goals in mind, the initiative highlights businesses that are creating measurable impact rather than merely promoting green branding.
The other jury members for the Awards are Rajneesh Sareen, Director, Sustainable Habitat Programme, CSE; Bhupinder Bhalla, IAS, Ex Renewable Energy Secretary; Peepal Baba, Founder & Managing Trustee, Give Me Trees Trust, and Ritu Beri, Designer & Sustainability Advocate. These personalities are India's some of the most respected voices in Sustainability & Climate Action.
Nominations for the 2026 edition are currently open across 25 categories for both individuals and enterprises. The awards ceremony is expected to bring together sustainability leaders, innovators, industry experts, and policymakers in New Delhi later this year.
As India’s green entrepreneurship ecosystem expands, Blossom’s inclusion in the Ecopreneur Awards 2026 jury represents more than industry recognition. It reflects the growing acknowledgement of founders who introduced sustainability-led thinking long before it became commercially fashionable.
