This Hanuman temple has made it to the Guinness Book of World Records list and the reason is.....

In the heart of Delhi, in the Connaught place, is a temple that is a testament to city's devotion for centuries. The Prachin Hanuman Mandir, is not just another stop on a spiritual map; it is a living, breathing space where faith has taken the form of chant, and that one chant has not paused even for a second since 1964. Scroll down to know the reason behind why is this temple enshrined in Guinness Book of World Records.

The history

This temple which is believed to date back to Mahabharata era as per local beliefs is dedicated to Lord Hanuman, the very symbol of devotion and bravery. The atmosphere here seems electric. You feel it the moment you enter through the gates and listen to the gentle, constant murmur of "Sri Ram Jai Ram Jai Jai Ram." The phrases revolve continuously, like a pulse that has mastered the beat of eternity. It's this chant that has seen the temple become famous in the Guinness Book of World Records.

3/5

Why is it in Guinness Book of World Records

The mantra is being continuously chanted since August 1, 1964, twenty-four hours a day, every day. The devotees take turns, so that the sound never drops, not even for an instant. The commitment is staggering. It's more than ritual, it's discipline, belief, and love wrapped together in a river of sound that has been running for over six decades. When you're inside, you don't hear the chant, you feel it. It resonates through the marble floors, through incense-perfumed air, through every silent prayer lodged in people's hearts.

The temple walls are as legendary as well. The roof is adorned with colorful scenes from the Ramayana, every brushstroke a reminder of centuries-old devotion. The temple spire supports a crescent moon, an uncommon symbol in Hinduism, which allegedly guarded the shrine during a period of turmoil. It is a reminder that spirituality transcends strife, that peace and protection spring from the same celestial plan.

Importance of chanting "Sri Ram, Jai Ram, Jai Jai Ram"

Hanuman is believed to protect devotees, remove obstacles, and grant strength and courage. In Hindu tradition, remembering Rama through Hanuman strengthens faith, focus, and perseverance.

Chanting “Sri Ram, Jai Ram, Jai Jai Ram” invokes both Rama’s divine energy and Hanuman’s protective power, because Hanuman’s devotion makes him inseparable from Rama.

What makes this more remarkable than its architecture

Beyond its architecture and recognition, what makes the Prachin Hanuman Mandir remarkable is its endurance is that is in a city where everything moves fast and attention shifts quickly, this temple stands as proof that some things can still be timeless. The chanting has become part of Delhi’s soul-uninterrupted, unwavering, and quietly powerful.
Each visitor takes with them something intangible. Some refer to it as peace, others as strength. But perhaps it is just the knowledge that faith, when lived with tenacity, becomes a force that does not have to demonstrate itself. It just goes on. In a time where silence seems to have lost itself, the omnipresent chanting sound of "Sri Ram Jai Ram Jai Jai Ram", is persistent from this temple, and is heard all day long, reminding us that is it about persistency, it is about holding on, softly, even as the world keeps evolving.
