What exactly is past life?

The concept of a ‘past life’ is one that has intrigued people for centuries. It is about a belief that everybody came into this world once before, or maybe many more times, and your past life in some way or another is shaping your current life.
People talk about past lives when they discuss Karma, unfinished important tasks, unresolved emotions, and of course, certain fears and phobias.

The growing interest

As paranormal shows, podcasts, encounters, and recordings are growing, so is the interest in topics of past life. People from all walks of life, at some point, have been intrigued about what their past was, and have wished to explore it with a ‘Past life regression’.
There are healers and practitioners who are offering these regressions as ‘service’ and are helping people see and realise who they were and how their life was shaped.

What is regression?

Past life regression is a technique that helps people ‘access’ their memories of the past, especially those that shaped them in a certain way. A memory that led to some kind of phobia, a memory that shows a betrayal, or basically something huge that happened in the past life.
A past life regression is done through hypnosis, and people claim to have seen a POV where they were about to be hit by a vehicle, or they saw how they died, some even saw that they were ministers in royal courts.

Sadhguru’s take on past life regression

Sadhguru, a renowned yogi and spiritual teacher, has shared his thoughts and knowledge on various topics. From the ills of anger to the realities of past life regressions, he has talked about it all. And when it comes to these ‘regression sessions’, in one of his videos, Sadhguru described them as psychological make-believe.
Sadhguru says that even if a person can guide others into past life, they should not do so because it is too much for the human mind to process.

Why it isn’t the best practice

Sadhguru warned in the video that these regressions can take an emotional toll on the person, and recalling past lives will lead to emotional outbursts. He remarked that memories of one lifetime are way too hard to handle for so many people, and to top them up with memories of the past will only bring in emotional trouble, an overloaded mind, complex emotions, and the likes. He explained it simply by saying that if a person related to you in the present life, one who is very close to you, was close to someone else in the past life, it will bring a lot of mixed emotions in your mind and heart, and you might not feel alright with all the memories flooding towards you.
