7 lesser-known Goddesses who embody the hidden power of the divine feminine

Beyond the nine-night festival of worship of the nine avatars of Goddess Durga, Hindu culture also pays homage to many lesser Goddesses, not as well-known, but who embody energy, feminity and divinity, which extends far beyond the nine nights of devotion, seeping into every area of life and belief.

One of the most honored and ancient goddesses of Hindu mythology, addressed as the mother of the gods (devas). Aditi is associated with boundlessness, freedom, and the infinite horizon of the sky. She is the embodiment of the boundless source from which all existence arises. Goddess Aditi, signifies both the nurturing power and spiritual freedom and her portrayal in the vedic literature portrays the huge reverence that exists for the feminine principle as being at the heart of the order of the universe.

Sanskrit for "night," Ratri is invoked in the Rigveda, where she is worshipped as a bringer of sleep, calm and safety from the evils of the world.
