7 Bhagavad Gita shlokas that can transform a child’s growth and success

It is no secret that the Bhagavad Gita ka gyaan is timeless and will be relevant in any era. It is not just a scripture meant for spiritual people, but a complete guide with practical wisdom for every stage of life including childhood. When a child is growing, their brain is extremely fragile and inquisitive. Whatever you teach them young, it mostly remains in their mind for life. And considering the world we are living in today, where kids are facing multiple problems such as academic pressure, digital distractions, and emotional challenges, they need strong support in terms of values and inner strength.

And this is where the Gita comes into the scene. Krishna’s words offer powerful moral values and teachings which help children in building their confidence, discipline and kindness from an early age. On this note, let’s have a look at seven significant shlokas from the Bhagavad Gita that can positively shape a child’s overall growth and success.

2/8

“Karmanye Vadhikaraste Ma Phaleshu Kadachana”

Meaning:
“You have the right to perform your duty, but not to the fruits of your actions.”

Chapter 2, Verse 47 of the Gita explains the concept of doing your karma. The shloka teaches children to remain focused on their effort. But should not care about what they get in return. In a world full of comparisons and competitions, kids often are scared of failure. Krishna’s message tells children that doing their best is more important than fearing about results.

3/8

“Yogastha Kuru Karmani”

Meaning:
“Stay balanced and centered, and then perform your duties.”

Chapter 2, Verse 48 of the Gita explains the positive effect of staying balanced and focussed. Children have pressure of exams, and getting good marks. The verse encourages kids to remain calm in every situation and helps them develop emotional intelligence and patience.

4/8

“Shraddhavan Labhate Jñānam”

Meaning:
“A person who has faith and dedication gains true knowledge.”

In Chapter 4, Verse 39, Krishna explains the reason behind to have faith in themselves and value their journey of learning. It teaches kids that when faith is combined with effort, it turns into wisdom. Whether a child is learning to read or trying to do math, trusting their abilities boosts confidence.

5/8

“Uddhared Ātmanātmānam”

Meaning:
“Lift yourself by yourself. Your mind can be your best friend or your worst enemy.”

Chapter 6, Verse 5 of the Gita talks about the power of the mind. Children often struggle with thoughts like “I can’t do this” but this shloka teaches them how important it is to remain self motivated. It is a kind of superpower.

6/8

“Abhyāsena Tu Kaunteya”

“Through practice and discipline, the restless mind can be controlled.”

In Chapter 6, Verse 35, Krishna says that discipline is an important thing for kids. But in today’s digital era, the attention span of kids is getting shorter. This verse offers a powerful solution: which is consistent practice. Children need to understand that even the greatest skills come from daily practice and discipline.

7/8

“Manmanā Bhava Madhbhakto”

“Always keep me in your mind, stay devoted, and you will find peace.”

Chapter 18, Verse 65 of the Gita introduces to the value of devotion and gratitude. It gives the message of staying positive always and faith in god, in goodness, and in themselves and their values. These qualities shape good human beings.

8/8

“Samatvam Yoga Uchyate”

“Equanimity — staying calm in both success and failure — is real yoga.”

In Chapter 2, Verse 48, the Gita says that success is sweet, but failure is scary, especially for children. This shloka teaches the art of staying humble when successful and positive in failure. When kids understand this, they are always in a win-win situation.
