Life lessons from Bhagwad Gita

Bhagwad Gita, one of the most relevant epics in modern times, houses tons of knowledge, wisdom, and lessons. Be it for a time when you are plagued with dilemmas about life or an incident where everything feels as if it is crushing you down, there is a shloka from the Bhagwad Gita that can instantly lift your spirits. Be it anger or jealousy, there is something for all in the Gita.

So, here we mention 6 quotes from the Bhagwad Gita that are inspiring lessons on life.
2/7

One of the most famous Bhagwad Gita quotes is this one. And, it is not just famous, it also has a deep, moving life lesson that people should remember all their lives.
The quote translates to - You have the right to perform your duties, but you are not entitled to the fruits of your actions.
This shloka is about the importance of doing your duty and doing your part in life. But, just because you do the act you are supposed to, it does not mean you are also always entitled to get something in return. As a life lesson, this shloka tells us that one should not be too attached to the result or positive outcome of their actions. One should be committed to their responsibilities but still maintain a sense of detachment from the results.

3/7

This shloka from the Bhagwad Gita translates to - The soul can never be cut to pieces by any weapon, cannot be burned by fire, cannot be moistened by water, and will not be withered by the wind.
This shloka is about the strong, powerful nature of our soul. It explains how a soul can never be cut, injured, burned, or anything. Nothing ever happens to the soul externally, and so it is as strong as it can be. The soul, or ‘Atman’ is completely unaffected by external forces and this makes it important in shaping your mind and body.

4/7

This shloka translates to - A soul and mind that lacks faith and is ignorant is bound to destroy itself. Neither in this life nor in the future will they remain happy with doubt.

This shloka teaches us about the destructive power of doubt and ignorance. And these two can pose major problems for spiritual and personal growth. And so, a person who is constantly doubting himself or herself, cannot progress in life as the chains of self-doubt cage them in their zone. So, have faith in yourself, and choose the right path without fear.

5/7

This shloka says that - Three gates lead to self-destruction - lust, anger, and greed. So, abandon these three as soon as possible.

This quote from the Bhagwad Gita talks about the 3 ills of life that are practically the direct road to self-destruction. The wrong paths of lust, anger, and greed, can destroy the strongest and wisest souls and can lead to dangers and failure in life. When these emotions and feelings are uncontrolled, they can take over your life and lead to misery.

6/7

This shloka from the Bhagwad Gita says - A person who is not disturbed by miseries, is free from desire for pleasure, and is free from attachment, fear, and anger, is a sage of steady mind.
This shloka is a life lesson as it tells what humans should stay wary of. It tells that when you are free from desires, do not engage in fear or anger, and distance yourself from worldly attachments, you start having a steady, calm mind which gives you sage-like qualities.

And as ups and downs are inevitable in life, when you do not let them put your spirit down, you become a better person in life.

7/7

This shloka translates to - As humans, we should always elevate ourselves and not engage in degrading ourselves. The mind is the friend of the soul, and also the enemy.
This shloka becomes a life lesson as it talks about the power of the mind in shaping our lives and thus how important it is to tame it right. If we engage in self-depreciation and do not pay heed to positive thoughts, it will result in our mind becoming our enemy. But, if we think positively, and think good about ourselves, our minds will be conditioned in the same way. A disciplined mind is the road to improvement, success, and happiness.
