Affirmations to remember

Sanskrit, a beautiful language that has always helped people share and express their most emotional and wholesome ‘bhav’ or feelings as people say in English is finally seeing a resurgence. Which was once considered an ancient, outdated language, people are now embracing Sanskrit again for its beauty, the beautiful ‘uchcharan’ (pronunciation), and of course, how it hides deep meanings in small sentences. Here we mention 5 Sanskrit affirmations that help remove negative thinking from life.

2/6

Etadapi Gamishyati

The Sanskrit translation of an extremely famous phrase ‘Etadapi Gamishyati’ means ‘This too shall pass’. When the horrors of life are striking people left and right and the mind is filled with negativity and bad emotions, this affirmation is like a lifesaver. It reminds people that no matter how bleak the situation might seem at the moment, there is still light at the end of the tunnel, and this too will pass. Just like happiness is fleeting, so are sorrows and sadness.

3/6

Anugacchatu Pravah

A beautiful Sanskrit affirmation, ‘Anugacchatu Pravah’ simply means ‘Go with the flow’. And if you are wondering how it will help remove negative thinking and thoughts from the mind, well, this simple affirmation that tells people that whatever is happening in life is there for a reason, and instead of going against the current and ending up doing something disastrous it is better to go with the flow and trust the ways the Universe works.Often, negative thinking clouds our mind when we struggle against circumstances, and try to control the things that are beyond our reach, but when we affirm that we will go with the flow, we submit ourselves to the divine or whatever higher energies we believe in.

4/6

Ishwar Asti Mam Shakti

This is possibly the most powerful affirmation to shut off any negative thoughts and feelings that one would develop in life. ‘Ishwar Asti Mam Shakti’ means ‘God is my strength.’This affirmation helps people believe that the divine energy, the Gods that we pray to, are with us, they are our power, and no matter what happens, they will guide us and help us succeed. And sometimes, this is the belief that is needed (on self and on God) to keep away negative thoughts from life. And when people identify this inner connection they have with the divine, they feel cared for and protected, which eventually strikes off any negative thinking.

5/6

Yat Bhavo Tat Bhavti

Another beautiful Sanskrit affirmation is ‘Yat Bhavo Tat Bhavti’ which means ‘As if your thought/thinking, so shall happen’. This one is not just an affirmation but also an eye-opener that makes people realise that no good shall come from negative thinking. In fact, things might worsen if we send out too much negativity into the Universe and upset that balance. By affirming ‘Yat Bhavo Tat Bhavti’, we choose to focus on the positive, the jolly, and the successful thoughts we have, and as we hope for a better future and work for it, something good comes out of it, removing all negativity.

6/6

Antah Asti Prarambh

Often, negative thoughts and thinking arise from problems that we have in life. It could be the end of a relationship, of a job, of an opportunity, and the likes. And when something ends, the natural human reaction is to be sad and the mind makes one go through ‘n’ number of depressing emotions. But, this Sanskrit affirmation ‘Antaha Asti Prarambh’ means ‘The end is the beginning’, and gives us the simple idea of - When God closes a door, he opens 2 more!’And so during the bad days and phases of life, this affirmation becomes a gentle reminder that all change should start from within, and the end of something does not equate to the end of everything.
