The best ways to prep for a perfect work interview

Preparing for an interview is a lot more than just googling common questions on interviews. Interviews are tough, undoubtedly. To perfectly ace an interview, a candidate should require adequate knowledge, patience and professional manners to deal with any hypothetical situation presented to them, in a dignified and calm manner. Cracking the toughest questions in the toughest scenarios can help you be the right person for the job. So, here are a few interview prep tips to ace the interview.

2/6

First impressions

Nobody likes to a see wrinkled t-shirt or ruffled hair in an interview, especially panellists. A crisp and good interview outfit will gain you brownie points because it projects your seriousness towards the job. Never forget that one’s outer appearance plays a major role in determining one’s character in such situations.

3/6

First Know about the target audience

Read and critically analyse the company’s target audience because if you get the job, you’ll be catering to that audience mostly. Interviewers expect candidates to know everything about their company, especially important statistics about their growth or areas where they cater to their customers. If you appear to be clueless about it, then that’s a minus point.

4/6

The classic ‘tell me about yourself’

This question may seem casual but levies a lot of weightage on your chances. Defining yourself within a few lines can be challenging yet, it poses a clear view for the interviewers. They will be convinced that you have a good grip on yourself if you give a good answer. Try to be interesting with your points as well.

5/6

Be tactical about your weaknesses

Be very careful about answering this tricky question. You may want to be honest, but not throw away your weaknesses easily. Try talking about a weakness from a strong point of view. For example, organisational skills. But also include that, you’ve been working on it for the past few years. You have opted for organisational apps that have helped you to keep you on your toes.

6/6

Reflect on earlier experiences

While preparing for an interview, extensively go through what all you have done in your past career jobs. Along with sample books, or online question-answers, try gathering up your thoughts and opinions on what you've been doing till date. Even if you are a fresher, take the bunch of learnings in your college to deliver exceptional answers.

Pro tip: Don’t fret the night before an interview. Have a sound sleep to appear less nervous and tense.
