Possible reasons why you're not getting hired

Getting the rejection letter too often? Here’s why

Leaving your interview feeling demotivated because of your rejection can mean a lot of things i.e either success is still far away or you may have some problems that are preventing you from getting hired. It’s not uncommon. There may be a number of reasons why you are not getting hired, no matter the effort you’re grinding into perfecting your portfolio. And so, it’s absolutely necessary to identify the reasons why your candidature is not the one that’s being selected. So, let’s now navigate these possible reasons.

2/6

You’re not networking enough

Networking is a huge part of the hiring process. The more you connect with different people, the greater prospects you’ll grab hold of. Don’t hide the fact that you’re looking for a job. In fact, advertise it. You never know who is going to recommend potential job offers or prospects.

3/6

You’re applying for the wrong jobs

First ask yourself, what are you good at and what do you exactly plan for your career? Identifying your key interests will help you filter out jobs where you may stand a much better chance of getting hired. When you apply for a job and your resume is not catering to the job’s certain needs, it becomes only evident that you’re not on the selected list.

4/6

Your resume is not tailored to meet the demands

One glaring mistake you might be doing is sending out a generic resume or cover letter to all the jobs you have applied for. Nobody is going to understand how your skills will cater to a job’s respective needs. Generic skills provide no perspective on capabilities. It only shows that you lack precision and enough effort to make it look professional.

5/6

You’re not prepping for interview questions

Lacking confidence and the inability to answer questions correctly at an interview will definitely cost you. Even though your resume may look impressive, it will mean little if you fail to answer questions with gait and precision.

6/6

You’re coming off either too strong or meek

Your personality tells a lot about yourself. If you come across as an overly excited person, it can a huge red flag to many interviewers. On the other hand, if you’re too meek in presenting your case or negotiating your terms, then the interviewer might not take you as a team player. Basically, you need to be neutral on all terms. You need to add some uniqueness to yourself that only you can spin.
