In search of a new career

We all arrive at a phase in our life when we ask this question: “What am I doing with my life?” And when this question dangles in front of you, it is not only difficult to arrive at a conclusion but it will be equally daunting to make a plan and act on it. However, the number of people leaving a secure job to pursue their passion is on the rise and before you decide to follow their footsteps, here’s what you need to do:

2/7

Take your time

Remember, leaving a successful career behind is easy but building a new one is not. Don’t just arrive at the conclusion of leaving your job just because you are going through a bad phase. This is a life-changing decision and you should take your time before coming to a conclusion.

3/7

Once you have made up your mind

Once you have made up your mind and arrived at the conclusion of changing your career, make sure that you talk to your near and dear ones about it. Also, taking advice from people who have done so can be really helpful.

4/7

What do you want to do next?

Before quitting your job or bidding adieu to your career, you should have a clear idea of what you want to do next. Given an opportunity, everyone would love to follow their passion but can that be a dependable option or provide a secure source of income? You need to tackle these questions before wrapping up your career in the middle.

5/7

Contingency fund

Of all the hurdles that people face, financial insecurity is the biggest risk they have to overcome after quitting their job to work on something they love doing. So, it always best to quit a job after saving enough amount that can be kept aside as a contingency fund.

6/7

How to earn money by following a passion

This is the most important question: How to earn money while doing what you love doing best? You need to do a lot of research on this and make a proper plan. For example, if you love travelling, you can make a travel blog. If you love cooking, you can start a home-cooked food business. There are lots of options and you need to find the right one that would be suitable for you.

7/7

Don’t lose hope

Perseverance is your strongest weapon in a situation like this. Once you start something new, try, try and try again to make it a success. Be prepared for the dejection and hurdles you will face but don’t give up. It takes a lot of time and patience to arrive at a point where you would start enjoying new-found freedom and the fruit of your labour. But till then you need to keep working hard.
