Here's how you can identify

There’s a lot of unidentified toxicity at work that can be quite hard to deal with on your own. Bosses, employees and even other juniors turn to gaslight in order to engage in dirty workplace competition and rise the success ladder by pulling each other down. Gaslighting is a form of psychological manipulation that can occur in various contexts in the workplace; the person who is being gaslighted might question their own sanity, memory and even perceptions. If you are wondering whether you are being gaslighted at work by others, here are some signs that you might need to refer to.

2/6

Constantly second-guessing yourself

If you find yourself repeatedly questioning your own abilities, judgment, or sanity, it could be a sign that you are being gaslighted. Gaslighters often try to make their victims doubt their perceptions or memory by saying things like "you must be mistaken" or "you're overreacting."

3/6

Feeling confused

You may feel utterly confused about your work most of the time only because your colleagues may intentionally provide inconsistent information to you. They might try to change their story to make you feel confused and disoriented. If you find yourself frequently feeling unsure about what is happening or what to do, it could be a sign that you are being gaslighted.

4/6

Feeling like you're always at fault

You might feel guilty of doing the wrong thing at work most of the time. This is because gaslighters often try to shift blame onto their victims by making them feel like everything that goes wrong is their fault. If you find yourself constantly apologising or taking the blame for things that are not your fault at your workplace, it could be a sign that you are being gaslighted.

5/6

Feeling like you're walking on eggshells

Your colleagues or boss may try to threaten or control you by intimidating you. They might make you feel that you need to be careful of who you talk to. You may find yourself constantly worried about saying or doing something wrong.

6/6

Feeling isolated

You may find yourself alone at your workplace most of the time. Those who are gaslighting you may try to isolate you from others making you feel like you have no one to turn to for support. You will find that your gaslighter is trying to isolate you from your colleagues or other sources of support.
