Do you often crib about your salary? Time to reconsider your avoidable expenses

Smart tips to save more money every month

Most of us struggle to save money every month and often blame our low salary for it, isn’t it? However, we often fail to realise that the real culprit behind this might be our spending style and lifestyle habits rather than just the amount that gets credited in our bank account every month. Here are six things that might be causing you unnecessary expenditure and burning a hole in your pocket.

2/7

Eating out

Do you place an online order for lunch or snacks in office almost every alternate day? If not this, do you often head to a fancy restaurant for dinner and brunches and binge on your favourite dishes? Well, you might need a reminder that home-cooked is much healthier and economical. We are not against the idea of eating out, but it must be done within a limit.

3/7

The coffee culture!

Grabbing a latte on your way to office every day from a high-end coffee shop might be convenient and cool for you. But don’t forget it just takes milk, coffee and whipped cream to make it at home and can do wonders for your bank account. Again, it is not about completely restricting yourself from visiting a coffee shop but spending depending on how much your pocket allows.

4/7

Impulsive shopping

Most of us are guilty of impulsive shopping, especially online. We buy stuff that we might not actually need and in fact, at times, we make unnecessary purchases just because we are feeling low. Well, the impact of this retail therapy is temporary on you but permanent on your bank account. The next time you are planning to buy something online or offline, take a few moments (the longer the better!) and honestly ask yourself if you actually need it?

5/7

Cabs

Yeah, there is nothing more comfortable than booking a cab online and enjoying an air-conditioned ride to your destination. But if you want to save money, taking a public transport when it’s possible isn’t a bad habit.

6/7

Gym memberships!

If you have taken a three-month gym membership and actually went to gym only once in a blue moon, accept you have made a silly-yet-grave mistake. You can stay in shape by running or walking in your neighbourhood park and guess what, it won’t cost you a dime.

7/7

The extra charges you never thought about

If you forget to pay for bills on time and later pay with exorbitant penalty charges, you have no right to crib about being not able to save money. Remember, managing your finances efficiently is not rocket science and starts with being responsibly spending every dime.

Can''t agree more! All points are absolutely valid. If you follow the author''s tips, surely it is going to make a BIG DIFFERENCE. Your bank balance WILL be satisfactory if not bulky.
