4 things to do when you hate your job but can't quit

Stay strong and try these things to keep yourself motivated

There are many people out there who will relate to this situation where they are doing a certain job but they hate it and to make things worse they cannot quit for whatever reason. To live happily you cannot go on like this. It is important that you shake things up. But how?

2/5

Motivating post-its

The first thing you need is some motivation. For that, begin with pinning some positive and motivating quotes or messages for yourself in your work area. Always have a pin up board you can look at and keep it colourful. These things always cheer us up. You could also try some affirmations because they do work for some people who want to look at life with a half glass full attitude.

3/5

Avoid pointless negative people, talks

Colleagues do have the tendency to gossip about others and indulge in pointless criticism about others. This is where you need to get smart and not indulge. It is nothing but sheer unhappiness when you get involved in disempowering conversations. Refrain from worthless gossip, concentrate on your work and do not let anyone discourage you from doing and being who you are. Believe in yourself.

4/5

Take breaks, play games

Instead of sitting in a monotonous routine, shake things up. Play a game, take frequent breaks. Take a short nap in between. You could play games online but you can try getting a board game, a snooker table as a one time investment, depending upon your sources and needs. If nothing else, spare an hour to go and play badminton outside. Sync your time with a colleague or friends who live nearby and do not talk about work at all.

5/5

Find your life’s purpose

Yes you are stuck with this job you do not like but you need it to pay bills but is that all? There must be something you always wanted to do, a vision, a purpose to your life. Search for it, push yourself, if you have to study for a certain kind of career in the near future, begin working for it. If you like to unravel by traveling, look forward to that trip this weekend. Go for regular treks and cycling trips. You want to write a book, then work on that too. Always have something to look forward to.
