Why your 20s teaches you the most about love, relationships and everything in between

Being in your 20s!

Your 20s is one of the most interesting phases of your life. You start taking baby steps in the professional world and figure out what you really want to do in your life. Along with this, you handle your love life which is basically a combination of heartbreaks, doubts, curiosity, hormones and in turn, varied range of emotions.

Though juggling all this might not be a cakewalk, but this phase teaches you the most about love, relationships and everything in between. Here are few of these lessons.

2/8

Love can happen twice

In case, you believe in the idea that true love happens just once, you are wrong! Most of us witness an ugly break-up or face rejection from our crush in the 20s and start to believe we won’t fall in love ever again. Thanks to some mental conditioning done by romantic movies and dreamy novels. But in reality, that break up is not the end of your love story. In fact, you meet new people at every stage in life and you never know when love might knock at your door again.

3/8

You realise your true needs

There is no book that mentions what should be one’s needs from a partner and relationship. It is only when you witness roadblocks in your relationship and nurse a broken heart, you realise what exactly you seek in your love life. So if you spare a moment and think about it, your 20s are actually helping you to understand yourself better.

4/8

You move on from your first break up!

Let’s talk about the first heartbreak that generally happens in the early 20s! It is surely one of the hardest battles you fight with your own self and initially, you feel you will never get over it. You conclude that your life is a wreck and you cannot stop yourself from thinking about your ex-partner. But eventually, things fall into place and you move on. What seemed like a never-ending emotional battle once, actually made you a stronger person. Now when you look back, you no longer feel the heartache or become teary-eyed thinking about those days. Why? Because you moved on!

5/8

Having your own life is important

This is one of the most valuable life-lessons your 20s can teach you. No matter how loving your partner is and how fulfilling your relationship is, but having your own life is important. Have a set of friends who always have your back, learn to love yourself before loving anyone else and be fiercely independent. Some people learn it after a heartbreak and some learn it by observing other’s experience.

6/8

A relationship is not just about love

The recipe for a successful relationship is not just about a single ingredient called love. A relationship can work only when both the partners are willing to make adjustments, embrace each other the way they are and stand next to each other in good and bad days. It is about sharing mutual respect, care and a sense of understanding that lasts forever. We bet not everyone steps into a relationship in their 20s with this wisdom.

7/8

Relationships are not about fairy tale romance!

The initial months of a relationship are super romantic. Whether it is saying those three words, surprise visits, romantic dates or the kiss, the first time of every little thing always holds a special place in our heart. But the real test begins when this rosy phase gets over and you both deal with the ups and downs together. You realise relationships are not always a romantic fairy tale and you have to figure your way out of ugly fights, heated arguments and difference of opinions.

8/8

Stop overthinking

‘Is he my soulmate?’ ‘Will we be able to get married in future?’ ‘Does my partner love me truly?’ ‘Why is everyone around me getting married?’ Most of us tend to over think about something or another in our love life and disrupt our peace of mind. Most of us learn to let go these fears and insecurities only with time and age. Everyone takes their own time to realise they are on their unique journey and it is your 20s that start teaching you this lesson.
