This is how you are damaging your relationship without even realising it!

Ways you are sabotaging your relationship

It goes without saying that relationships require some serious hard work to make them last. Just like you cannot clap with one hand, a relationship cannot be successful if both the partners are not making constant efforts to make it work. Sometimes, we make ‘innocent’ mistakes or develop some habits that damage our relationship and we may not even be aware of it. Here are some common mistakes that might be silently destroying your bond.

2/7

Saying sorry, always!

It is a good trait to accept your mistakes and apologise for it. But when you use the word ‘sorry’ as a convenient option to escape from your irresponsible behaviour or simply get over the problem without finding a real solution, you are treading the wrong path.

3/7

Fighting the wrong way

Every couple fights and have arguments over little things but the way they resolve the issues decides how it impacts their relationship. You must not hold any grudge and pin point them later during any other fight. This is a signal that you have resentment towards things and you are not openly communicating them to your partner.

4/7

Unrealistic expectations

We all have our own idea of romance. Blame it on the romantic movies, fairy tales or novels, we sometimes tend to develop unrealistic expectations from our partner and the relationship. Remember that no relationship is perfect and is not bound to be a ‘happy’ one every day. You need to figure out what works for you, make adjustments, and have a pragmatic take on relationships.

5/7

Being manipulative

If you are one of those who always have an excuse ready to defend themselves or look for ways to shift the blame on your partner, it is a sign that you have a manipulative nature. You resort to emotional blackmail if you are losing an argument or give false hopes to make things work in your favour. Trust us, you are playing with your partner’s feelings for your vested interest and this is one of the worst things that can happen in a relationship.

6/7

Personal space

Being in ‘true’ love does not mean you have to cling to your partner round the clock. You need to respect their personal space and let them enjoy their me-time. Whenever your partner is reading a book or watching a video, it is best to let them spend some time in their own company. They will silently appreciate your gesture and in turn, find another reason to fall in love with you.

7/7

Trying to change your partner

You can always ask your partner to make a little adjustment and change some habits, but you cannot change their basic nature. Instead of focusing only on the negative areas or cribbing about their traits, you need to see and appreciate their brighter side as well. At the end of the day, you need to stop expecting that your partner would read your mind and behave the way you want. Try to embrace them the way they are and you will find yourself in a happy space in your relationship.
