What do you mean by avalanching in dating terms?

Singletons are keenly swiping right and left on dating apps which saw an increased graph ahead of February 14. This trend is also called ‘avalanching.’ This practice sees people throwing out their regular dates and not negotiating on the age and location so that they can secure a plus one before the most romantic day of the year. Thus, people on dating apps are trying to get as many matches as possible just so they have a date till Valentine's Day and don't feel alone. Individuals are not looking out for a long-term match but just to avoid the loneliness on D-day, the game of right swipe saw a big spike.

How to avoid avalanching?

Try not to install and connect with someone over a dating app, as this dating factor is mostly surging through dating apps. If you are already seeing someone, try to look out for the smallest problems or things in your relationships-- such as if your partner is giving you a sincere amount of time, or is only interested in meeting but has no contact after that for the day-- and see if these can be fixed or resolved. This will prevent you from avalanching others to seek attention. Or if you have found someone new, look out for some of the following details to avoid being avalanched by them.

3/6

Watch for signs of manipulation

A genuine and interested individual will never make you feel guilty about your actions and feelings. They will never manipulate you with their insecurities and will thus support and make you feel liberated. The moment you feel judged because of your opinion or actions do not give a further chance and step away from the relationship ahead of Valentine's Day.

4/6

Lookout for their possessive side

Many people love being a tad possessive about their partner’s activities but it becomes an obsession when excessive jealousy and attempt to control gets involved. A person who has the intention of leaving you after Valentine's week will carry an unhealthy dynamic as he/she will always be insecure about getting left out ahead of the big lovers' day. Thus, look out for the unhealthy setup and thus take action.

5/6

Do not enter an abusive relationship

To receive attention and love from your special one, people tend to enter an abusive relationship that lacks respect. Abusers will often make a point to keep you on their good side and convince you what you are experiencing is normal, but do not trust these fake words, and lookout for a trusted figure of support.

Mutual respect

Always remember that healthy relationships are built on mutual respect. Thus, your partner requires you to share values and be open to positive communication. If you encounter toxicity of any kind thus take proactive steps to address it properly and make your distance before being taken up for granted for just a period. Looking out for the things you are not comfortable with and then keeping a distance from unhealthy situations should be your best decision.
