Ways to be an understanding partner during wedding planning

It can be quite a stressful time for couples to plan their wedding. No matter how strong your bond is, two partners are bound to have clashes and disagreements about certain decorations, clothes and even a wedding cake can turn ugly! Staying calm and collected in such an event is really necessary to keep unnecessary discords bay. Clear and transparent communication is necessary to withhold your relationship at this time. So here are a few ways to keep the communication strong when planning your wedding.

2/6

Accept that it’s going to be tough

The first step to understanding each other is to accept that it is probably going to be very difficult planning the wedding together. All those time you laughed at your friends for taking so much stress while planning the wedding is going to get back at you because you and your partner will have to somehow come at a middle ground.

3/6

Balance the load

It can get really irritating when your partner doesn’t seem to spend enough time and effort into planning the wedding, as compared to your efforts. You might feel that your partner isn’t investing much effort and is dependent on you to get the work done. Make sure you both share the load together and handle what you can take on.

4/6

Don’t aim for perfection

Face it. No wedding is perfect. There will always be issues you will have no control over. Don’t get obsessed with how everything will be perfect, instead assure yourself and your partner that you both will try to make sure everything goes smoothly. Achieving perfection will lead to a lot of unnecessary stress.

5/6

Set some boundaries

Don’t be the paranoid bride who eats, sleeps and talks about her wedding planning all the time. Not only your partner but your family members and friends will also get bored and irritated if you continue to talk about the wedding. Take some time off and go for evening walks where you can talk about other things with your fiance and not start off with the guest list once more.

6/6

Sit down and talk about the problems

If you’re upset with your partner over some issue during the wedding planning, then it’s advisable to communicate your problems to your partner directly. Don’t wait to make the issue bigger. The aim is to consider each other’s opinions and effectively solve the issue, without it escalating into a bigger problem, just before the wedding.
