Is your partner cheating on you

Do you often feel that the relationship doesn’t seem as important to your partner as it did some time back? Or, do you have a nagging suspicion that he or she is cheating on you. Infidelity is no stranger in the world of relationships but accepting the truth that your partner has changed loyalty is easier said than done. According to relationship experts, the best way to know if you are being cheated on is to confront and know the truth. But before you do that, you can follow these suggestions to get a better idea about your partner’s infidelity.

2/8

Keep track of the days you get physically intimate

Has your lovemaking sessions become rarer or when you get physically intimate, your partner treats it like something that needs to be done and get rid of? If you doubt that your partner might be seeing someone else, the first thing you will notice in his behaviour is his changing attitude towards sex or his growing discomfort while being physically intimate. Try keeping a track of these changes (if there is any) and you can point this out when you broach the topic of cheating.

3/8

Check the bills

Remember the days when you started dating your partner. There would be frequent dinners, gifts or outings. This obviously involved spending some extra money, right? If your partner is seeing someone else, there are chances that these behaviour would be repeated. If you notice some frequent unexplained expenses being reflected on the credit or debit card bills, there might be a reason to worry about.

4/8

Meet the colleagues

According to a study, 50 per cent of people has workplace romances at least once in their lifetime. If your partner is reluctant to take you to an office party or a family get-together, take this as a warning sign. There is no harm in being acquainted with his or her colleagues. You can always plan a get-together or throw a party where you can invite your partner’s colleagues.

5/8

If you notice your partner growing over-possessive about the phone

Behavioural changes are often-ignored cues. Just like unexplained expenses, getting too possessive about his or her phone can be a warning sign. If your partner password protects the phone, you can someday casually ask him or her to share the password. If the person tries to avoid the topic, there must be something fishy. There is nothing wrong in not sharing a password and in fact, no one should do that. Chances are that only a guilty mind would try looking for a reason to not share the password instead of flatly refusing to do so.

6/8

Talk to a person you trust

Sometimes our mind can turn over suspicious and might develop this tendency to believe in situations that might not even be there. Getting a third person’s opinion can help you see things straight and stop you from jumping into conclusions.

7/8

The confrontation

When you have made up your mind about confronting your partner, make sure that you don’t lose your temper or start the conversation in an accusatory tone. According to experts, it’s always best to keep it straight and short without getting into too many details. The more you try to get into details, the more explanations the other person will offer and it will only complicate things. The best way to start the conversation is by asking directly if he or she is having an affair. And look straight into the eyes when you do so.

8/8

The consequences

Remember, life will never be the same after you have the ‘confrontation’. If the person accepts that he or she is guilty, it will come as a big relief. No doubt you will be angry and upset but at least a weight will be lifted off your shoulder. But if your partner denies the accusations, will you be able to trust him or her like you used to before?
