Unique ways to bond with your mother-in-law

One of the trickiest and complicated relationships is probably the one a woman has with her mother-in-law. There is no right time for women to bond with their mothers-in-law; some hit it right off the bat while others take time getting along with them. Women are particularly very sceptical of bonding with their mothers-in-law because they can never seem to anticipate what they want. But know this, there’s always a room to make your relationship with her stronger. So, we bring to you a few ways to bond with your mother-in-law.

2/6

Be eager to cook together

The kitchen is a great place to bond with your mother-in-law. Offering her a helping hand while cooking will make her feel appreciated and cared for, especially when she needs help. Moreover, be eager to learn the traditional foods of your household; you’ll learn something new and valuable.

3/6

Ask and consider her advice

Your mother-in-law will love it if you open up to her and ask for her advice over matters. Asking for advice can initiate a bond between you two. This may make you seem vulnerable but being open about your concerns and opinions will not only help your mother-in-law in understanding you but will also make her feel that you respect her views as well.

4/6

Ask more about herself

Ask your mother-in-law about the life she has led till now. This simple yet important question will truly give her the impression that you’re considerate and eager to know about the family as well. Ask her where she grew up and about her hobbies. You can see the glimmer and passion in her eyes when she starts to narrate her life.

5/6

Initiate conversations about your partner’s childhood

Your mother-in-law might feel insecure that now you may be the most important person in her son’s life. To help eliminate this feeling, try engaging in conversations where she can talk about her son and most importantly, his childhood. She will immediately start showing you photo albums and tell you all the embarrassing stories about your partner. This way, you can show her that you care about her relationship history with your partner.

6/6

Take her out for day trips

Nothing better than to bond with your mother-in-law over a walk or a spa-therapy session. Take her out with you once in a while so that she can also feel better. Being outdoors with her will make your bond stronger and give you a chance to laugh, eat, shop and even roam around the city with her. She will love the fact that her daughter-in-law enjoys her company a lot!
