Things you should never tolerate in a relationship

No matter who and how you love in a relationship, respect always comes first. People blind in love often forget to set boundaries with their partners that indicate lack of control in their lives and relationships, which is very necessary. Physical, emotional or mental problems in a relationship are a clear sign that these issues are hampering your individual growth, especially if your partner is not cooperative enough. In account of this, here are some things you should never tolerate in a relationship.

Your partner will try to control your behaviour and actions according to what they feel is right for you. They will try to manipulate you according to their preferences and wishes. They might also want to keep continuous tabs on you about where and who you are with at all times.

Gaslighting is a term that is used when a person tries to convince someone else that their fantasy is real. And by this, your partner may try to convince you that your actions or concerns are crazy. They will dismiss your uncomfortable feelings and term them as inconsiderate or not plausible.

This is a strict NO. If your partner tortures you mentally, abuses you emotionally or even hits you, you should get away from them at once. They will make fun of you, tell you that your feelings don’t matter and even make you feel worthless. Physically hurting you is the last straw that you should never have to endure.

Do you always doubt yourself when you’re around your partner? If yes, then your partner doesn’t do a good job in making you feel confident and good. If your partner says things that make you feel horrible, then they aren’t treating you with enough respect. Keep this in mind.

You are who you are. And your partner should be comfortable and accepting of you. You shouldn’t have to change as per their references but only if you are willing to change for yourself. This is a major red flag if your partner is trying to change your personality or appearance according to their preferences.

You shouldn’t have to experience isolation from your friends and dear ones just because your partner is insecure and uncomfortable with you spending time with others. They will feed your mind with things that’ll slowly lead you to separate from others. Always remember that you have your individual life to tend to and if your partner can’t respect that, then it’s not worth it.
