Here's everything you need to know

When we want to start a family, there are many things that need to be considered, put into a routine, rectified, and even tried. Right from food to the timing of sex, here are some things you must know if you are having sex to get pregnant.

2/7

The right time

Every doctor will tell you that the best time to get pregnant is when the woman is the most fertile during the menstrual cycle. In general, the fertile window is 5 days before ovulation and on the day of ovulation. The highest probability of conceiving is 2 days before ovulation and on the very day itself.

3/7

How many times should you do it?

As per many articles online, you must have read that if you have sex too often, it reduces the sperm quality and even the quantity. As per some studies, higher rates of conception are seen in couples who have sex every 1-2 days. Do have sex more often but do not fit it into a schedule as that is nothing but unnecessary stress.

4/7

Lubricant

Lab studies show that water-based lubricants reduce sperm movement by 60 to 100 percent. But. before you panic, some studies have also suggested that couples trying to conceive have found no negative effects when it comes to the usage of lubes, on fertility. In fact, lubricants might even aid in your efforts to get pregnant as they will make things easier.

5/7

Orgasm

A man has to ejaculate to get his partner pregnant but a woman does not have to have a climax to conceive. However, men, please note that the movement of your partner’s orgasm may help in propelling the sperm closer to conceiving.

6/7

The weight matters

If your weight is high, without body shaming or taunting you, every doctor will tell you that being too thin or too heavy is going to lower your fertility. So lead a healthier lifestyle to manage your weight.

7/7

Smoking & caffeine

Having caffeine in large amounts like 5 cups a day or smoking increases the odds of infertility. It can also reduce sperm motility and you may even end up having a miscarriage.
