The kind of pictures you should avoid putting on a dating app

What pictures you should avoid

Taking pictures and sharing them has become an activity so common-place that we sometimes do not realise that some pictures are not to be shared in certain scenarios. Pictures you took partying on a Saturday night might not be ok to share on your workgroup, similarly, some pictures should be avoided entirely when creating a profile for matchmaking. They may say that you shouldn't judge a book by its cover, but in matchmaking, your pictures form the very first impression of who you might be and the wrong ones can lead to you getting weeded out without getting a fair chance. Here is a small list of the kinds of images you can avoid so don't miss out on a great match.

2/6

Group photo

A little bit of mystery goes a long way but to leave the receiver of your pictures guessing who you might be from your gang of friends or a family photo with all your cousins doesn't count! You should be the sole subject of all the images you share and please also ensure you are facing the camera in a way that your face is visible clearly.

3/6

With filters on

Filters change our appearance entirely, be it beauty filters or those fun dog ones. Canine ears and a wagging tongue doesn't exactly say marriage material and changing your appearance to look like Kylie Jenner or Barbie would count as deception.

4/6

Those taken at the gym

Your calves and triceps might be poppin' in your latest gym pic, but we are sure there are other sides of you that you would want your future partner to get acquainted to before them.

5/6

With sunglasses and caps on

Sunglasses, caps, bandanas etc are all accessories that hide your features. You might look great in those oversized sunglasses but with them on one would get no indication of what you look like. So skip those beach vacay photos you think you look amazing in!

6/6

Masked up

If you want to emphasize that you are a model citizen, then a masked up photo might be the way to go, but it would tell your receiver absolutely nothing else. Masks hide half your face, not to mention your smile!
