Signs your heartbreak is becoming something more serious

There is no doubt about the fact that break-ups can be extremely painful. It could result in either of the partners feeling depressed, unworthy, or unlovable. Plus, if one person has been cheated on, the pain knows no boundaries. When you have loved a person with all your heart and they betray you, the world comes crashing down. Though many people can deal with such situations eventually, others seem to have a much more difficult time coping with them. Here are 5 signs that suggest your heartbreak is becoming something more serious.

2/6

You constantly feel physically ill

It’s normal to feel heartbreak physically as your body responds to the stress of a breakup. This often causes nausea, low energy, low appetite, insomnia, etc. But if the feelings in your body keep sticking around or getting worse, it might be a sign that you need more help.

3/6

You are avoiding your friends

It is very difficult to maintain friendships while coping with a break-up. However, avoiding them is not the best way to go about it since it can increase your post-breakup symptoms. Though they can't give you professional help, they can still cheer you up.

4/6

You can't think about anything else

If you are constantly thinking about your ex and start to feel as though life isn’t worth living without them, that’s a sign you could use some professional support. The same should be done if you start to feel like you are worthless or unlovable.

5/6

You feel numb at work

One of the worst feelings after a breakup is having to go to the office knowing you won’t be able to concentrate on work. But if that numb-at-work feeling just won’t go away, it's time to seek professional help.

6/6

You lack motivation

It can be tough to get back on your feet when you are heartbroken. But if you have lost the motivation to work, keep up with regular habits, or just go through your day, as usual, that’s a signal your heartbreak is taking a serious toll.
