Auspicious time for WEDDINGS in 2022

With the New year, comes the time to make new decisions in our life. I’m sure many of you are thrilled to enter a new chapter in your lives. But before we start answering the ‘when’, let’s assess the ‘why’.

There are four main objectives of pursuit of the human life or ‘Purusharthas’ i.e. Dharam, Arth, Kaam and Moksha. The human mind is agile and malleable. Among the 16 Sanskars that have been mentioned in our Hindu Vedas, Marriage is the 14th, or the third last Sanskar(value). The institution of marriage provides a person to both be accountable for and to be accounted for by another person. It is so that by joining their hands and heads together, they can overcome their individual weaknesses and lead a balanced life through the pursuit of Purushartha.

Having mentioned the perks of co-dependence, it is also important to know that it is not a necessity either. Have you ever seen a unicycle?

It seems impossible to ride it but a person who has mastered the skill of balance and control can easily ride it. Similarly, a person of strong will and mind is capable of carrying themselves through the journey of life gracefully. Seeing beyond the basic affairs of life, towards greater purpose and meaning, these people walk independent of the worldly necessities.

The best months for marriage in 2022

According to the predictions, the best time for marriage in 2022 lies between the months of January and July.

Reasons and months to AVOID for marriage

From the 10th of July (‘Devshayani Ekadashi ’) to the 4th of November(‘Dev oothni Ekadashi’) this year, we will be witnessing ‘Chatur Maas’ or the period of 4 months in which Lord Vishnu is said to have gone into the state of ‘Yoga Nidra’.It is advised not to have weddings in this period. The month of November is also not advised for marriages as Venus(shukr) will go below the horizon (ast hona).

Apart from the reasonings of The Hindu Dharma and Shastras, the aforementioned period is the time of changing seasons across the Indian subcontinent. The changing weather easily targets our immune system and digestion, making us prone to infection and disease. This logically suggests why one must avoid their festivities in this time span. Religious fasting in this period of Savanna and the time of the Navratras is advised.
