From 'kittenfishing' to 'tindstagramming', here are some creepy dating trends

Have you heard about these creepy dating trends?

The modern dating world is not easy to understand. Every year we come across new trends that almost defies understanding. For example, last year we had ‘breadcrumbing’ or ‘benching’. And this year (half of which is already behind us) also has something new to offer. Of many trends have surfaced these six months, we bring to you some of the creepiest ones. Read on to know more.

2/7

Tindstagramming

The term Tindstagramming is derived from these two words—Tinder and Instagram. If a person stalks another on Instagram after connecting him or her on a dating app like Tinder, this is called Tindstagramming. Isn’t it creepy to find that a person you met on a dating app is now stalking you using information from your social media account?

3/7

Kittenfishing

We all want to put our best pictures on our dating app profile. And to do that, a lot of people use filters or apps to enhance their features and looks. However, some people would not just stop there. They would rather put old pictures of their younger self to hide their real age or weight. This deceptive trend is called kittenfishing.

4/7

Pocketing

The term pocketing is pretty self-explanatory. In this dating trend, one partner hides the other from his friends and family. It’s almost like the person wants to keep his lover in his pockets away from everyone’s notice. This is not only frustrating for the person who is a victim of pocketing but quite creepy as well.

5/7

Cookie jarring

Cookie jarring happens when an individual has an affair despite being in a relationship with someone else. So how does it make it different from cheating? It's same but in cookie jarring the third person is used as a back-up plan, in case something goes wrong with the primary partner.

6/7

Slow fade

Slow fade is not as brutal as ghosting, where a person cuts off all ties with a partner suddenly and disappears. In slow fade, a partner gradually starts withdrawing from a healthy relationship. He will start becoming less available, frequency of calls will decrease slowly and interaction on social media will come to a standstill. But what’s creepy about this is that the partner who is being 'slow faded' would never know the reason behind the withdrawal.

7/7

Orbiting

In this trend a partner keeps orbiting around his lover’s life after a break-up. This is not exactly something new but the presence of social media is making it worse now. Because if an ex-lover keeps commenting or liking your social media posts, it means he might still be keeping a track on what is going on your life. This scary behaviour is not good for anyone who wants to move on from their past love life.
