Dealing with a break up is no piece of cake. It involves a lot of crying, missing and you tend to feel exhausted as it was a huge emotional investment for many of us. But what do we do in such a situation? We are advised not to contact them again so how do you deal with that emptiness? Here are 7 ways to deal with missing the ex moment that may help you cope with it.

Sharing your thoughts & pain

Besides crying it out which immensely helps in easing that pain, one very helpful way to feel better is sharing. Find a person or reach out to an individual who will hear you, be a good listener. It could be a friend, a relative or even a counsellor. Just anyone who will not judge you. Say it all out but make sure that the person is trustworthy and not a gossip monger.

Productive activities

One very effective way to deal with the pain is to do something lucrative and productive. Channel all that pain and do some activity. You could paint or work on an old trunk which can be made into a center table. You can always clean your room or home. Clean that fridge you had been postponing. Try gardening. Finish paperwork or anything that had been pushed on to the back burner. Just do not sit idle. Make a schedule and adhere to it until you feel light. This will prevent any kind of loneliness that has been creeping in.

Journaling

There are certain memories and thoughts that cannot be divulged to anyone. So write it down and pour your heart out in a journal that you can maintain. You can always make an e-notebook on the phone so that you can carry it around easily but the old ways are sometimes the best hack. Penning it all down is a therapy itself.

Self improvisation

Take yourself as a project and work on yourself. Self grooming is the best way to motivate yourself. Work it out, go for a jog, try yoga, dance etc. If you love makeup, then how about trying different looks and making videos as you see on social media today? Anything that keeps you occupied and helps you rediscover yourself works!

Travel

Instead of sitting at home in one corner and moping, backpacking is one excellent way to revive yourself. It clears your mind, you get to see something new, and travelling is said to open minds! Take out a map, see where you have not been, do the required booking or simply head out and see where you want to stop. There are many homestays that people use. In case you cannot take a leave, try workation if you are on work from home.

Catching up

In many situations, when you are with a partner, you tend to involuntarily distance yourself from your friends and just hang around with him/her. So take this as an opportunity to catch up with friends you have left behind. Or, just make plans with your folks and hang out. Socialising helps a great deal and you begin feeling better and more confident eventually.

Volunteer

This makes many people feel better about themselves and in another way you are being useful to someone else. Help people who are less fortunate, do some charity work and it is bound to help you gain a sense of fulfillment. Also, this works as a major distraction.
