Let's take a look at these!

Astronomical phenomena like solar and lunar eclipses bring a lot of different kinds of energy into people’s lives. Considered to be a highly astronomical event, it is also the harbinger of a number of superstitions and myths that have been religiously followed in parts across the world. These superstitions can be very scary and freaky! Let’s take a look at some of them!

2/7

Pointing at the stars

It is considered to be very rude to point at the stars even if it is a very common action. It is believed that the stars are actually Gods and pointing at a God can anger them to a great extent, bringing bad luck to the person.

3/7

Origin of solar eclipse

Hindu mythology states that Rahu, an angry planet swallows the sun and mood and this causes eclipses. However, the sun and moon can’t be held for long in Rahu’s mouth and so, they slowly escape. This is why eclipses don’t last long, as per superstitions.

4/7

Counting stars

It is considered to be bad luck to count the stars as they bring negative energy into your mind and body. Some legends even say that when you count and reach 100, you’ll even die!

5/7

The Chinese legend of dragon swallowing the sun

Dragons are an integral part of Chinese traditions, cultures and history. Chinese superstitions believe that dragons used to eat the sun for lunch, thus causing an eclipse. However, the God of birth, Zhang Xian fired arrows at the dragon and this caused the dragon to throw up the sun, thus ending the sun.

6/7

Ancient Greeks believed it was all out of anger

Ancient Greeks believed that whenever an eclipse occurred, it means that the Gods were angry with the humans, and so, to teach them the lesson, they wanted to make the people misery.

7/7

Stars the sea

Fishermen have a lot of superstitions on board. They let the shooting star or the North Star decide their course at sea. This is said to bring the fishermen and their crew good luck, especially in times of thunderstorms.
