Effective psychology tips for maturity and success

It is often said that one's mindset can help one go far in life, and rightly so. You must have noticed that most successful people and leaders have one thing in common-- while they take risks they also learn from their experiences, and this maturity reflects in all aspects of their life. To help you grow as a person and handle your life and relationships with more maturity, here we list some psychology tips.

2/6

Do not share your innermost thoughts and goals with the whole world

“Travel and tell no one, live a true love story and tell no one, live happily and tell no one, people ruin beautiful things.”
― Kahlil Gibran.
While Kahlil Gibran said this decades ago, his wise words stand true even today. So, stop telling others everything about yourself and your goals or plans as most people don't care, and some others might secretly want you to fail. After all, not everyone wishes well for you. And research at NYU, led by Peter Gollwitzer, has also proved this! According to the study, students who revealed their goals even before working on them were more likely to fail than those who didn't discuss their goals and plans with others. The reason is that people who speak about their plans get a false sense of achievement, even before working on their goals-- and this leads to their failure.

3/6

Have an attitude of gratitude

Instead of complaining about the things you don't have or the ones that are going against you, start accepting things and people as they are. Be grateful for what you have, and appreciate everything. This will help you have a positive mindset and view towards life-- leading to more happiness, contentment, and inner peace. True maturity lies in staying happy and calm even when things aren't happening as per your wish.

4/6

React less, respond more

That's exactly what successful people, good leaders, and mature people do! To be like them, learn to react less. Instead, respond wisely to situations and people-- be it in your professional or personal lives. Everyone don't need to know your innermost thoughts and views. It is important to learn that everyone is not our well-wisher and so when one learns to control their reactions, others can't manipulate them so easily. And that is true power and maturity in life!

5/6

Stay calm and balanced, even in challenging times

Even in the Bhagavad Gita, Shri Krishna teaches us to control our minds. He says that one's mind can be their biggest friend or enemy, and so it is important to have self-control. A mature person never lets others and external circumstances control him. Instead, s/he stays calm and does the right thing (their Dharma) even if it seems tough. Remember, while controlling others is strength, controlling oneself is true power!

6/6

Be in the company of positive, like-minded people

It is often said that birds of a feather flock together and rightly so. The company a person keeps has a huge impact on them and their views and so, one needs to choose their friends wisely. It is rightly said that a sure shot way to become a better version of yourself is to be in the company of other better people. Look at the most successful people around you; they generally have friends in their lives who are like them-- motivated and driven.
