Use these phrases instead of sorry

When you say ‘sorry’ too often, the word loses its importance over time. Misusing or repeatedly using this word can also make you look irresponsible or not professional enough. However, there are a few phrases that you can always use instead of saying ‘sorry.’ Using such phrases may even make you seem more polished and professional. Let’s take a look at these much-needed phrases.

2/6

“My apologies”

This is a very formal and professional way of saying ‘sorry.’ This can be used in business contexts but it may even seem sarcastic, depending on your tone and how you say it. So, carefully, use this phrase.

3/6

“Excuse me”

This is a very polite way to interrupt someone in a conversation. This is also another way you can refuse to indulge in social gatherings and get-togethers.

4/6

“Pardon me”

This seems more like a courtesy. When you say this, you are asking the offended person to forgive you for your mistake. This phrase signifies tolerance or forgiveness. This is a very polite and courteous way of apologising that will also get you forgiveness.

5/6

“My bad”

This is a very casual expression of saying 'sorry'. This also means you have taken up responsibility for your mistake. However, this is not a very serious expression. You can use this if you bump into someone or drop their belongings. This phrase is usually used among friends.

6/6

“Whoops or Oops!”

This is an exclamatory expression or phrase when you have made a small mistake. Similar to ‘my bad’ this also isn’t a serious phrase so you can use this with your friends and also to an extent, with strangers. For example, “Oops, I forgot to send you the pictures earlier!”
