How to avoid a fight with your mother-in-law

All households have fights especially when you both belong to different backgrounds and upbringings. Disagreements are common too. But if you and your mother-in-law have been fighting a lot and you look at different ways to resolve those fights, here are 3 fail proof ways that may help you out in making things less difficult between you both.

2/4

Give due credit

It is important to give due credit to whoever it is, no matter what the situation is. So, how can you forget that treatment for your mother-in-law too? No matter how mad she makes you, you have to remember that she raised the spouse you are in love with. So whenever you disagree with her, start with “I truly appreciate how you raised my spouse, but…” Make sure you start with this.

3/4

Acknowledge your feelings

If there are certain habits, words of your mother-in-law that bother you, talk to her. Communicate how you feel because this habit of expressing yourself will encourage your mother-in-law to relay the same. Don’t just pinpoint the issues, articulate your sentences in a way so that they are not accusatory. Speak with the attitude that you are here to understand the other person so that you can make things better for both your advantages.

4/4

Agree to disagree

You don't always have to do as told and neither does your mother-in-law. You have to accept that you are different individuals so there will be situations where you both differ in your ideologies. So, it is best to agree to disagree and accept that it is okay to see things differently. However, do let her know that although you feel differently, there is no harm in trying it her way. This shall make her see that you did respect her way even if you had your own theory. The next time, she will keep you in mind.
