Do you miss (and think about) your ex-partner all the time? You need to read this

Do you miss your ex?

Since you have clicked on this article, we believe you are either nursing a broken heart or know someone who has recently broken up. Whatever have been the reasons of the break-up, it is almost impossible to not miss your ex-partner, at least for some time. Most of us go down the memory lane, think where things went wrong, the best moments you spent together and even stalk them on social media. In case you are dealing with a painful heartbreak, the following points would help you to analyse the situation logically and bounce back to your normal self.

2/8

It is normal to miss your ex!

When you have invested your time, energy and emotions in someone and have dreamt of a rosy future together, it is obvious you will feel a little upset after the break-up and think about your ex. Make a beginning by accepting the reality and not brushing your feelings under the carpet. Missing your ex-partner is a part of moving on and you need to be hopeful that eventually, everything would fall into place.

3/8

You don’t need to prove anything

Sometimes, we post our exciting photographs (think the ones of visiting a new cafe, traveling to an exotic location or running a marathon), memes and jokes thinking our ex-partner would view them too. Intentionally or unintentionally, we try to gain their attention and prove our life post break-up is better. But such actions do more harm than good and are a signal you are not actually moving on. In fact, you might be constantly checking your social media feed to see whether they have ‘liked’ or commented on your post and that’s one of the major reason you are always thinking about your ex-partner.

4/8

Start again!

You might not feel like stepping out of your home after a heartbreak, but you can only move on from your past when you concentrate on making your present better. You might still miss your ex but going out and meeting new people will help you regain your confidence. You will eventually realise break-up is not the end of your world and life has amazing things in store for you. If you feel confused, go on a solo date with yourself!

5/8

Stop doubting your decision

The next time you miss your ex or doubt your decision, think about the reasons that made you both part your ways. Break-ups do not happen in a day, right? It is the gradual build-up of issues that no longer can be worked out. Focus on learning your lesson and figure out your true needs from a relationship.

6/8

What are you exactly missing?

Do you miss your ex-partner or the comfort of being in the relationship? Do you miss the security of being in a relationship? Or, you miss your partner because you think you won’t find someone better? Give yourself some time and try to figure out what exactly is making you miss your partner. It could be possible that you are not missing your ex-partner but the familiarity of being in a relationship.

7/8

Stay busy, and focus on yourself

To distract yourself from the thoughts of your ex-partner, you have to engage yourself in the things you like. Focus on improving yourself, learning a new skill, joining a book club, exercising or giving time to your hobbies, anything that makes you feel better and focuses your mind on positive things.

8/8

Cut off contacts

Staying friends with your ex-partner immediately after a break-up is not a good idea. How can you move on when you are constantly in touch with that person? You can be friends only when both of you have moved on in life and the fact your ex is dating someone else does not bother you anymore.
