7 times it is NOT okay to text your ex-partner

Missing your ex-partner?

Let’s be honest. Life after a break up isn’t a cakewalk. Whether it is a romantic song, the shirt in your closet that was gifted by your ex-partner or the memories of your last vacation together, almost every little thing reminds you of your previous relationship. Consciously or subconsciously, you keep fiddling with your phone contemplating whether it would be a good idea to text your ex-partner or not.

Take a deep breath; it is normal to feel like that. Everyone takes their own time to make peace with the situation and move on in life. If you have made up your mind that you don’t want to go back to them, it is important that you stay strong and deal with the situation (and your emotions) ahead in a mature way. Here are a few testing times when you will miss your ex-love flame and it would be wise to not text or call them.

2/8

When you had a bad day at work

There would have been days when you called or texted your partner, cribbed about your work, venting out everything and soon, you felt better. But now the times have changed and you are no longer together. Hence, remind and brace yourself, contacting them is not an option.

3/8

When he/she updates anything on social media

Rather than texting and enquiring whenever he/she posts a photograph with a new friend, updates the status or ‘checks-in’ at a pub, you better remind yourself that person is your ‘ex’ for a reason. It would be wiser to cut off ties for some time and get back in touch only when you are confident you both have completely moved on.

4/8

Because you feel lonely

It is okay to feel lonely at times after a break up. No one can heal a broken heart in a day and we know it’s hard, but you will only move on from your past when you can resist this temptation. Here’s a quick advice: Try to fall in love with yourself and you will become a better version of yourself.

5/8

When you’re drunk

When drunk and tipsy, we all do things we might regret the next morning. Most of the times, our emotions take hold of us and even the sanest and most rational people end up texting their ex-lovers. Whether you send an emotional text, demanding to meet the very moment, blame or abuse, you will surely not be proud of yourself after a few hours.

6/8

On special occasions

Whether it is the day when you first met, shared your first kiss, your relationship’s anniversary, your birthday or any special occasion, don’t let your past memories haunt your present.

7/8

The songs and movies

Oh, some songs have lyrics that strike a chord with your heart and take you down memory lane. Then there are some super-romantic movies that remind you of your beautiful times together. Do you think texting your ex-partner after listening to a song or watching a movie will solve the matter? It will not.

8/8

When your ex-lover is in a relationship!

This one is the most obvious. If your ex-partner is dating someone else, it is a clear sign they have found a new love interest and do not want you back in life. Why are you still clinging on them and even thinking of texting? #SelfRespect, anyone?
